RNA quality is one of the most important factors for successful gene expression analysis. SABiosciences' ArrayGrade Kits are optimized for gene expression analysis, particularly using our GEArray® microarrays as well as our MultiGene-12™,  RT² Real-Time™ and RT² End-Point™ PCR kits. The RNA isolated or purified by the ArrayGrade Kits generates more specific signals on gene arrays by reducing interference from enzyme inhibitors or non-specific RNA.

Both the ArrayGrade mRNA Purification Kit and the ArrayGrade Total RNA Isolation Kit have been tested using human cell lines (such as HEK-293, HeLa, MCF-7, and MDA-231) and mouse tissues (heart, liver, lung, kidney, brain, and others). NOTE: We currently do not recommend using the ArrayGrade mRNA Purification Kit to isolate RNA from whole blood or any blood-derived cell line.

Background

The ArrayGrade Total RNA Isolation Kit employs a special silica membrane spin column technology. The lysis buffer, with its chaotropic components, stabilizes and prevents degradation of the RNA and allows optimal retention of the RNA on the spin column. Washing the column removes salts, metabolites, and other macromolecular cellular components. Low ionic strength conditions then elute pure RNA from the column.

The ArrayGrade mRNA Purification Kit efficiently extracts mRNA by means of magnetic beads covalently coated with oligo-(dT)₁₄. Messenger RNA bearing a poly-A tail anneals to the oligo-dT, and a magnet draws the beads to the bottom of a tube removing mRNA directly from crude cell lysate or total RNA. The magnetic beads are specially treated to minimize non-specific binding of other nucleic acids, insuring mRNA purity. An RNase inhibitor in the lysis buffer prevents RNA degradation, yielding intact mRNA.

The ArrayGrade Kits provide easy and efficient approaches to acquire mRNA or total RNA of a greater purity and higher yield. The protocols take only 30 minutes of hands-on time. The kits include sufficient materials to purify 12 RNA samples. We also offer a convenient 12-Hole Magnetic Stand (Catalog Number GA-003) to help you process samples using the ArrayGrade Kit mRNA Purification Kit.
