Gene Symbol: MAP2K1 (Human)Other Aliases: CFC3, MAPKK1, MEK1, MKK1, PRKMK1
Refseq IDs: NM_002755, XM_005254540, XM_005254541
Description: Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the dual specificity protein kinase family, which acts as a mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase kinase. MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), act as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals. This protein kinase lies upstream of MAP kinases and stimulates the enzymatic activity of MAP kinases upon wide variety of extra- and intracellular signals. As an essential component of MAP kinase signal transduction pathway, this kinase is involved in many cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development.

 RT˛ Profiler™ PCR Array17 products

Gene Symbol: LAMTOR3 (Human)Other Aliases: MAP2K1IP1, MAPBP, MAPKSP1, MP1, PRO0633, Ragulator3
Refseq IDs: NM_021970, NR_024170, NM_001243736
Description: Late endosomal/lysosomal adaptor, MAPK and MTOR activator 3
The protein encoded by this gene was identified as an interacting protein that binds specifically to MAP kinase kinase MAP2K1/MEK1 and to MAP kinase MAPK2/ERK1. This protein enhances the activation of MAPK2, and thus is thought to function as an adaptor to enhance the efficiency of the MAP kinase cascade.
