We often use the phrase pathway-centric to
describe our approach to designing and developing research tools for the life
science researcher. But what do we mean by pathway-centric, and what do
pathway-centric tools do for you?
Pathway-Centric tools are simply life science research
tools whose content is specific to one biological pathway or gene family. The
essential benefits of our pathway-centric philosophy are twofold:
-
ready-to-use kits based on current understanding of gene relevance saves
the significant time our research customers may spend trying to identify
exactly which genes are relevant in the pathway(s) involved with the
disease or cell function under study,
-
focusing on the same important pathways and gene families with three
technology platforms - cDNA microarrays, RT-PCR, and siRNA - greatly
simplifies the task of verifying and extending initial results.
For example, using this pathway-centric set of
complementary tools, a researcher can quickly plan and execute an
investigation:
-
to determine relative apoptosis-related gene expression profiles of normal
and diseased samples with the Q Series Human Apoptosis Gene Array,
-
to independently verify the expression profile of those same
apoptosis-related genes individually with SingleGene PCR Kits or as gene
families with MultiGene-12 PCR Kits,
-
to knock down the expression of those same apoptosis-related genes
individually with SureSilencing™ siRNA Kits or as gene families with our
new siRNA Array Plates,
-
to repeat the gene expression profile of apoptosis-related genes with the
Q Series Human Apoptosis Gene Array.
The planned gene overlap among the three sets of tools accelerates the study
of important disease state and cell function pathways. Additionally, the
pathway-specific organization of our research tools simplifies project
planning, allows for quicker execution of experiments and lowers the overall
cost of experimentation.
Other technology platforms may be added to our line of research tools in the
future. However, providing a complementary set of pathway-centric tools will
remain constant in the SABiosciences philosophy.
