cDNA GEArray® Focused DNA Microarray

The cDNA GEArray is our first generation pathway-focused DNA microarrays and still has the most comprehensive coverage of biological pathways and disease states for human and mouse. The nylon membrane array matrix is a permeable support with a high DNA binding capacity. The production process employs a reproducible non-contact printing technology to prevent deformations in the membrane. The carefully designed gene-specific double-stranded 250 to 600 bp cDNA fragments printed on each cDNA GEArray minimizes any cross-hybridization between spots on the same array despite the representation of closely related members of the same gene families. The optimized target synthesis and labeling protocol generates amplified and labeled cDNA only for the genes represented by the cDNA fragments on the array. The biotinylated cDNA target and the carefully designed cDNA fragments on the array correspond to the same gene-specific sequences permitting efficient and specific hybridization. The cDNA GEArray is also optimized for the popular chemiluminescent detection method, which allows the use of either X-ray film or a CCD-camera imaging system for image acquisition.

With the publication of over one hundred scientific papers employing this technology, the cDNA GEArray is proven and trusted for pathway-focused gene expression studies. However, these products are continually being updated to their Oligo GEArray equivalents. For a complete overview of the cDNA GEArray technology, click [here].

Two different spotting and density formats available:
We offer two different formats of cDNA GEArrays, the Q Series and the S Series. Only the spotting patterns differ between the two formats. The Q Series microarrays contain up to 96 genes arrayed in a unique and easily recognizable tetra-spot pattern. The S Series microarrays contain up to 480 genes arrayed as single spots. Both formats also contain similar housekeeping genes and negative controls.

The cDNA GEArrays are only available in the same format HybTube Format as the Oligo GEArray and are designed to be processed using a standard hybridization oven. The cDNA GEArrays are NOT available in the HybPlate format

How It Works:

Isolate total RNA from your experimental biological source material using an appropriate kit and method. Enzymatically convert the RNA into a biotinylated cDNA target with the AmpoLabeling-LPR™ Kit in a standard thermal cycler. Hybridize the labeled target to the cDNA GEArray microarrays in their own plastic disposable hybridization tube in a standard hybridization oven. Detect the microarray with the Chemiluminescent Detection Kit reagents and either a Chemi-Doc imaging system (CCD camera) or X-ray film. Acquire and analyze the data with our web-based software package.
